As artists, we try. As humans, we try. And sometimes we try our damndest and still don’t quite succeed at our original ambitions. But we humans can often appreciate the effort and mental process poured into such ambitions. After all, it is not the result that matters, it’s the thought that counts. This project was an exploration into the overall motif of “it’s the thought that counts”, relying more on a humorous touch to show off those who are benevolently trying but do not quite reach 100 percent in the end. It follows our character, Benny, an art toy, who, as a sentient flame, tries to woo you over with a gift of a flower, unaware of the fate of the flower. This project also served to act as my first introduction to 3D design. The assignment for the class was a freeform assignment, in which the student could explore a new topic and learn it themselves. I chose 3D, and after multiple attempts, came to this version of Benny for a finalized 3D render of an art toy.
